![]() Getting to play FromSoftware’s masterpiece at 60 fps and up to 4K resolution would be amazing. Playing Bloodborne on PC is an ongoing dream for many players. "We are not selling as many console as we wanted, but sales of software are up YoY and subscriptions are up YoY as well! Overall we made more money that last year!" = stock price goes up.Bloodborne is one of the best Playstation exclusives out there. ![]() Now, are you really NOT going to pressure Sony to port games to PC? PC ports (etc.) are the easiest way to get growth and to make variable consoles sale matter less. You see lots of growth potential not tied to console sales, and already a lot of consistent income (billions per quarter), and popular subscriptions galore. Then you look at MS, who at this point is practically outright saying they kind of don't care how many consoles they sell (in a manner of speaking), and whom can get tons of sub money and game sales on numerous platforms. For stock holders, this is even worse when that gaming division is as important to the overall company as PS is to Sony. Who knows how well things go the next go around, and that can be entirely out of the company's control. Or rather, the traditional console business is risky, even for a comparatively low risk, established player. So, you are in a position where your stocks price for a company is variable to begin with (business is over reliant on console sales that are variable generation to generation) and then heavily affected by how well or poorly other people operate (in a rather out-sized fashion, say compared to Nvidia/Intel getting multiple chances with bad launches or whatever). If you are Sony stock owner, you are thinking that at least half of the reason their gaming division did so well (and had an oversized effect on the company's fortunes) is that MS screwed up. It's their only game in the PS4 era that stands out that way. Going from Sekiro or Nioh (not From, but same idea) to Bloodborne feels terrible. Time is of the essence because you only have a limited window to regain health from the damage you took.īloodborne fans will defend it until the end of time, but it's a big noticeable problem, especially if you go from one of the other games directly into Bloodborne. The choppiness makes #2 and #3 of that less consistent than it's supposed to be. The idea is you take damage, avoid getting knocked down and retaliate to regain your life. Bloodborne has no block and a weak parry, so it's mostly about your own pace and flurry of damage. ![]() Sekiro has fast action, but it's really about the generous parry timing so you're only doing "damage" at the pace of the enemy. DS is a more methodical game type, with more options to avoid damage and longer iframe windows. Bloodborne is probably the fastest of the games. If you told me in 2005 that in the year 2020 PCs would be king, I'd think you were nuts and clutch my absurdly expensive gaming rig a little tighter in fear for the future. A mouse and keyboard doesn't hurt either allowing for far more game play types than what a console can produce. I don't play PC games because consoles can't handle the load, but because they were made by smaller companies that were only able to get going because of the lower infrastructure requirements to slam a game up on Steam. Now? On the PC there are more games than I could ever dream of playing that I want to play, and a huge chunk of them are PC "exclusives". I remember when I could play every "good" PC game that interested me. Personally, I credit Steam and the "indie" scene for the PC revival. Now, I just pop in a new graphics card every few, and only ever throw away a whole PC when components start to fail. I remember having to upgrade my PC every couple years to have a shot at running new games. ![]() It also kind of surprising, because the argument for using a PC for gaming is about the weakest it has ever been. Remember that time PC gaming was surely doomed to die to consoles because everyone prefers a couch experience? It's almost funny how things have changed and PC gaming is as strong as ever. ![]()
